rest day

(a meditative short film)

When you’re taking care of a dog and most of your energy is playing with him, it’s nice to take advantage of the quiet moments to practise your skills. Plus he’s so cute when he’s peaceful and snoozing! 😴🐶

Filmed on the Canon C70, edited in Adobe Premier Pro.

After watching a lot of Cooking shows, we had the idea to try and create something similar. These shows are very focused on the food being cooked, supported by someone discussing their intention behind it. It was filmed over the course of an afternoon. The framing was also very centre framed so that it would be easy to re-edit the film for social media.

Filmed on the Canon C70 with Zeiss Distagon Lenses. Edited in Adobe Premier Pro.

Building the Bird

This is a film that I wanted to challenge my artistic style and try something that was in a “Cinema verité” style. This means there’s no interviews and the camera work is handheld and very unobtrusive. It lets the film play out in front of the camera.

We filmed this over two days as my friends built their soapbox car for the Redbull Soapbox Derby in Edmonton, AB. Because I was the only camera filming, we hoped that we could use a copy of the Redbull event footage to add in and show how their run down the hill went. However we haven’t seen this footage on online, and so it was decided to end the film after the launch.

I think this helps lend the film to the journey and experience of the participants, and the Cinema verité style itself.

Filmed on the Canon C70 in RAW, graded with Film Convert in Adobe Premier Pro.

Cooking a delicious margarita pizza (Spec Commercial) 🍕

This was just an excuse to make pizza because pizza is delicious.

The Joy of Skiing

Holly introduced me to the joy of cross country skiing. So it was only fair that I return the favour by creating this nice little film that encapsulates the spirit of the sport. It’s delightful and you should try it! Relatively cheap too! (especially if you buy a used pair of skis like I did)
